Mar 28, 2016

Monday evening, March 28, 2016, was a historic evening for Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Greater Boston as we welcomed His Excellency Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, to the Church.  On his first trip to Boston (from March 28 to March 31), and in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia, President Sargsyan was spending several days visiting Armenian cultural and religious sites and meeting with state dignitaries.

Accompanying the President were His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate, Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), and His Eminence Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy, as well as dignitaries from Armenia.  The President was welcome to Holy Trinity Church by Fr. Vasken A. Kouzouian, Pastor, and Fr. Mampre A. Kouzouian, retired pastor.

"It is an extreme honor for our community to welcome Armenia's sitting President to our sanctuary.  I believe President Sargsyan was enamored by the beauty and size of an Armenian Church located on one of the most historic streets in America, stated Fr. Vasken.  In the parish guest book, President Sargsyan stressed ". . . the special role of the Armenian Church in the preservation of the Armenian identity and the importance of its historic mission."
